Bar: Golden Berries 70%-ish
Maker: Q’uma Chocolate (Lima, Peru)
Price: $6/70g (La Esquina Verde)
Overall Rating: 2.5/10
Munch Factor: 3/10
Ingredients: Organic Cocoa Mass, Organic Cocoa Butter, Organic Raw Cane Sugar and Organic Golden Berries
Appearance: Dark brown color with signs of bloom; mold is pre-broken, 8 squares with a light imprint of the brand name.
Smell: Sweet fireplace, where they are roasting cocoa and maybe some fruit, way int he back.
The Melt & Snap: bad melt & nice snap.
Taste: A surprising lack of flavor, save for the berries. It was almost chocolate-y, and the berries were nicely dried but still acidic, but absolutely a lack of skill in the chocolate’s execution.
Complaints & Complements: I suppose they figured it would sell since it’s certified Fair Trade and Organic, but I certainly wouldn’t buy it again. It also doesn’t look very distinct, but nonetheless, I was hoping for more.
