Bar: Peru 80%
Maker: Ranger Chocolate (Portland, OR, USA)
Price: $2/7g (The Meadow in NYC)
Overall Rating: 9.5/10
Munch Factor: 8/10
Ingredients: Organic Cacao Beans and Organic Cane Sugar.
Appearance: Plain dark brown square mold with a pretty nice temper despite a bit of melting.
Aroma: Beautiful strong red fruits and tobacco, wood, ocean.
Melt & Snap: great melt & nice snap.
Flavor: Marshmallow, grassy, fruit and an innate lack of bitter notes, which makes its creaminess shine even more. Finish is long and fudgey.
Complaints & Complements: I’m not sure I’ve ever had a better chocolate bar, and I’ve had hundreds, maybe thousands, in my two decades on Earth. This bar makes me want to fly to Portland and then back down to Peru simultaneously. I’ll definitely be buying more and hoping that it turns out the same.
Context: Sitting in my warm apartment in Mexico.
