Bar: Madagascar (75%)
Maker: Twenty Four Blackbirds (California, USA)
Price: $3/14g (Southern Season)
Overall Rating: 8/10
Munch Factor: 8/10
Ingredients: Organic Malagasy Cacao, Organic Cane Sugar
Appearance: Beautiful delicate feather mold; dark brown color with nice temper.
Smell: Sweet dried red fruits; very pleasant.
The Melt & Snap: okay melt & good snap.
Taste: Bright sweet fruits, texture and smooth bitterness fades to sweet cocoa with a bit of dryness. Short acid on the finish.
Complaints & Complements: I am biased towards Madagascan origins because I adore the sweet red fruits that tend to feature in the cacao, but this is a great example of quality African cacao; get some honey notes in there and it could not be beat.
Context: Sitting in my climate-controlled house in the U.S.
