Ingredients: Trinitario Cocoa Beans from Trinidad, Demerara Brown Sugar from Guyana, Organic Cocoa Butter, Blue Mountain Coffee from Jamaica, Non-GMO Soy Lecithin.
Appearance: colorful but not overly bright cacao pods decorate a small, thin white package; ingredients and info are on the back. The bar itself is a medium-light brown with those same cacao pods decorating the mold, elevated into sections.
Aroma: coffee with spicy & earthy undertones.
Melt & Snap: good melt & okay snap.
Flavor: sweet cocoa for a good several seconds until a smooth coffee note seeps up from underneath, taking over your entire mouth. On the second and third bites there’s some fruitiness bordering on acidity that really changes the flavor, making the coffee much more pronounced. Finish is bittersweet, like a latte.
Complaints & Complements: their packaging is quite impressive, especially once you open the bar up and figure out why there are so many colorful cacao pods on the front, and are given all of this information about the terroir of the beans. Overall it’s a good breakfast bar, but my favorite part is that it’s made value-added in Trinidad.
