Bar: Congo (68%)
Maker: Cocoa Runners/Chocolate Makers (The Netherlands)
Price: $GIFT (Chocolátl, The Netherlands)
Overall Rating: 6.5/10
Munch Factor: 4/10
Ingredients: Cocoa beans, Sugar, Cocoa butter
Appearance: Dull dark brown with plain pre-broken mold. 24 squares in all.
Aroma: Deep woodsy cocoa with a strange overtone of hay and something chemical.
Melt & Snap: Strong, but easy snap & a hard melt.
Flavor: Hay and tannin and that weird chemically overtone I almost want to call gimmicky. At no moment do I explicitly taste cocoa, but the undertone of it is always there. Sweet, long finish.
Complaints & Complements: Very plain packaging, with writing almost exclusively in Dutch. I like the gorilla on the front, but otherwise it’s all just very aesthetically underwhelming.
