Bar: Piura Blanco 70%
Maker: Escazu Chocolate (North Carolina, USA)
Price: $6.50/80g (Direct From Maker)
Overall Rating: 7.5/10
Munch Factor: 6/10
Ingredients: Organic Cacao Beans and Organic Cane Sugar.
Appearance: 20-block plain pre-broken mold; very dark brown considering that the beans they used were of the white variety.
Aroma: cocoa with a fudgey lilt and alluringly heady character, exactly as one desires from a fancy, ethical chocolate.
Melt & Snap: wonderful melt & nice snap.
Flavor: silky tannin melts into cocoa and a rich fudginess that overpowers all but the light red fruits on the finish, which is short but sweet.
Complaints & Complements: Escazu rarely disappoints, and still has some of the best bonbons I’ve ever had. This bar is an example of their great work, and I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on some more.
Context: sitting in my climate-controlled house in the US.
