Bar: 72% Esmeraldas
Maker: Hoja Verde (Quito, Ecuador)
Price: $4/80g (Tourist Center in Quito, Ecuador)
Overall Rating: 3/10
Munch Factor: 1/10
Ingredients: Organic Cocoa Liquor, Organic Sugar, Soy
Appearance: 18-block pre-broken mold and a very dark color, especially for such a moderate percentage of cacao.
Aroma: Sweet and decidedly earthy with woody undertones; some spiciness.
Melt & Snap: Okay melt & strong snap.
Flavor: Bitterness and then earthiness melt into a sweet tannin that leaves my mouth dry and confused, mostly because it won’t go away. Unfortunately long finish.
Complaints & Complements: I like the packaging; it’s pretty, if a bit bulky. But the chocolate itself wasn’t even worth a second taste.
