Bar: Hilo 70% (Hawai’i)
Maker: Manoa Chocolate (Kailua, HI, USA)
Price: $8.49/50g (Caputo’s Market online store)
Munch Factor: 5/10
Ingredients: Cacao, Organic Sugar, Organic Cocoa Butter.
Appearance: Manoa’s packaging is even more eye-catching than before, with their logo prominently displayed in gold. The bar itself is super dark, with the name stylized in lowercase letters in the center.
Aroma: Malbec and earthy barley with red fruit undertones.
Melt & Snap: passable melt & strong snap.
Flavor: dark cocoa and fruity sweetness with brownie-like qualities. Finish is short and lacks tannin and bitterness.
Complaints & Complements: it’s very smooth and easy on the palate, but the complex aroma seemed to be dulled by the sugary sweetness in the bar. It would be a quality but pricey intro to darks for the milk chocolate lover in your life.
Context: sitting on my warm floor in my apartment. I had to wait for the room spray to die down.
