Bar: 75% with Coffee Nibs
Maker: República Del Cacao (Quito, Ecuador)
Price: $6/100g (Quito Tourist Center)
Overall Rating: 3/10
Munch Factor: 2/10
Ingredients: Cacao Liquor, Sugar, Cocoa Butter, Coffee Nibs, Soy Lecithin (E322)
Appearance: Pre-broken mold with 8 squares, alternating being emblazoned with the brand and the country of origin; plain dark brown with coffee lumps.
Aroma: Woody cocoa with sweet coffee and honey overtones.
Melt & Snap: beautiful melt & good snap.
Flavor: Sweet cocoa, but as soon as you bite into the first nib of coffee, in comes the very dark roast and burnt notes; it gets bitter and astringent very fast and never improves.
Complaints & Complements: The flavor overall is comparable to that of a 100% chocolate bar being melted in a fresh cup of dark roast coffee— bitter and hard to enjoy. The packaging is attractive, but that’s its most redeeming quality.

Hello, from Holland! Our daughter bought this chocolate on the Guayaquil airport. We loved it so much and want to know where we can buy this and have it shipped to the Netherlands?
Could you give us advice? Thank you so much in advance. Ton Roelofs

Hi, Ton! I'm not sure about this exact Republica bar, as it's been many years, but in the time since I've had several remarkable bars made with coffee nibs! I'd highly recommend you look into Xocolatl in Amsterdam or Cocoa Runners (based in London) to try a few different bars made with coffee. Both Shops have a large selection and can help you find the best versions of your favorite flavors. Happy Chocolating!~
