Bar: Tanzania 70%
Maker: Smooth Chocolator (Geelong, Australia)
Price: $11/60g (The Chocolate Garage)
Munch Factor: 7/10
Ingredients: cocoa beans, sugar, cocoa butter.
Appearance: massive black packaging with brown paper bag-colored square in the center denoting origin, maker, and a few other details. A similar paper on the back tells you nutrition facts & a lot more about the maker. Beautiful mold with rough sketches of a cacao tree laden with pods; medium brown color. The bar is large and thin.
Aroma: slightly acidic cocoa and underlying coffee; quite sweet.
Melt & Snap: hard melt & good snap.
Flavor: acidity on the nose translates to ripe and bright fruits on the tongue, like citrus & cherry, while each bite brought a deeper cocoa flavor and the finish brought light tannins & a short earthy finish. This bar’s flavor is complex and hard-to-describe, but overall pleasant. I wish I could do it more justice in my description!
Complaints & Complements: this is a very enjoyable interpretation of Kokoa Kamili beans. The aroma of the bar is very well-sealed by the packaging, which is some of the biggest on the market, up their with Heist.
Context: in my heated classrom, before lunch.
