Bar: Arcana 100%
Maker: SoMA (Toronto, Canada)
Price: $6.50/45g (Miss Choco in Quebec, Canada)
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
Munch Factor: 4/10
Ingredients: Cacao Beans
Appearance: Dark brown, though the color is lighter than expected for a 100%; mold is a unique one, with cocoa pods running the length.
Aroma: Dried fruit and some mossy earthiness.
Melt & Snap: decent melt & good snap.
Flavor: Dry, then some fruit before it melts into a sweet and slightly earthy flavor; no bitterness or astringency. Long finish with a hint of banana and no lack of sweetness.
Complaints & Complements: I don’t like that it’s not resealable, but it seems to guard flavor well, and the label is aesthetically appealing. You would not guess upon first taste that it is a 100% bar, based on the sweetness.

- A 100% bar, such as this SoMa one, is not necessarily bitter, nor does it look any different from its 70% counterparts.

Thanks Max, Although this is an old post I just dicovered it. I tried the Crazy 88 and was very dissappointed (actually the only Soma bar I've ever not liked) so I was going to stay away from this one. Now I may give it a try. Boris

It's definitely a smoother version than you'd find in any commercial chocolate (and most craft stuff, to be honest)! I haven't had it in a bit, but I tried a bunch of new SoMA stuff a few months ago and I can't WAIT until we can travel again and I can visit them in person... time for a re-teste, in that case!
