Bar: Nicaragua 73%
Maker: OmNom Chocolate (Reykjavik, Iceland)
Price: $13.50/60g (Cacao Review online shop)
Munch Factor: 3.5/10
Ingredients: Organic cocao beans from Nicaragua, organic cane sugar & cocoa butter.
Appearance: As always, OmNom’s packaging is very eye-catching and beautiful; not elegant, but sharp. This packaging is orange with geometric alligators and a rainbow wolf inside. The very dark brown bar inside is well-tempered and molded into a geometric mold that echoes the outside.
Aroma: maraschino cherries & earthy cocoa with deep acidity.
Melt & Snap: beautiful melt & good snap.
Flavor: sweet savory like mushroom and then earthy with a red fruits background. There is a lingering dusty, almost bitter note that lasts into the moderate finish that just continues to put me off, however.
Complaints & Complements: as beautiful as this bar is, it’s just not my cup of tea. It’s not bitter or astringent, but I just can’t get over the dusty tone it sets in my mouth. Otherwise, the bar itself is beautiful and it’s quite a well-made bar.
Context: in my office during the summer with light AC on (just before lunch).
