Bar: Malaysia 72% w/ Nibs
Maker: Benn’s Chocolate (Selangor, Malaysia)
Price: $—/65g (Gift in Chocolate Swap)
Munch Factor: 6/10
Ingredients: cacao nibs, cane sugar, cocoa butter, emulsifier: soy lecithin [E322], cacao nibs.

Appearance: lovely square packaging, quite eye-catching with its shiny print, but the holographic letters are hard to read. The bar itself is also rather fetching, featuring lots of textures from the cacao pods jutting from the square mold. Typical dark brown color.
Aroma: cocoa. Straight up.
Melt & Snap: okay melt & very strong snap.
Flavor: cocoa and a light sweet flavor completely lacking in bitterness or tannin; as you chew the nibs they add a pleasant chewy texture that breaks up the otherwise straightforwardly cocoa-y flavor. Finish is chocolatey and smoky, a light flavor I didn’t get at all on the nose.
Complaints & Complements: I love these molds. I love the different heights and breaking points that make it easy to share, and I love the textural and flavorful addition of the nibs at the bar level. I’m not sure I’d really classify this as a tasting chocolate, however, as the flavor is so mild that I easily sat and ate half the bar in one sitting, just munching away. Otherwise, I love the color scheme of the packaging and the fact that he has a different one for each origin.
Context: in my air-conditioned office before lunch.
